AN ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY ARTIFICIAL GRASS SYSTEM FOR SOCCER, FOOTBALL & RUGBY

WEB Banner naturafillDomo is introducing an environmentally friendly artificial grass infill onto the market. Naturafill is a natural product based on specially selected cork. Pure nature, with no additives. The cultivation and processing of the cork is also carried out in perfect harmony with nature from start to finish.

Artificial grass uses infill materials to guarantee the perfect shock-absorbing characteristics of the grass mat.  At present these are mostly vulcanised materials such as rubber. With Naturafill, Domo is taking the next step in its innovative eco-policy.

A positive impact on our climate
Naturafill is produced on cork plantations, where it is harvested from cork oaks at nine-year intervals. An oak’s cork is harvested for the first time once the tree is approximately 25 years old. The professional extraction of the cork bark from the trunk has no negative impact on the continued survival of the tree. It is estimated that cork oak groves worldwide absorb 10 million metric tonnes of CO2 per year. This has a positive impact on the safeguarding of our climate. Cork is also a renewable resource, and what’s more, cork oaks are managed sustainably: when an old tree (200 years old) is cut down, a young tree is planted in its place. Because production takes place primarily in Europe, and because the materials weigh so little, the environmental impact of transporting them is also relatively low.

Recyclable with no loss of quality or residual waste
Naturafill can be completely reused without sacrificing any quality and without producing any residual waste. When the infill is processed into granules – a process which expends very little energy – no harmful substances are emitted and no waste is produced.

Positive reception from sports clubs and local authorities
The new artificial grass infill has had a positive reception from the entire football market. The technical playing properties required to obtain a FIFA 1STAR and 2STAR certificate are perfectly guaranteed. Projects have already been started this season in various countries, a couple of them in Belgium, including in Stoumont, and there have also been various positive reactions in the Netherlands, and a pitch is even shortly to be installed on Kos in Greece.

Recycling water for artificial grass hockey pitches

SAVE WATER AT YOUR HOCKEY CLUB

hockey waterveldDomo Sports Grass has developed a revolutionary system for recycling rain and sprinkling system water. When watering the artificial grass, a large amount of this water is lost through the base. Rain water is also completely lost in this manner.

Thanks to the new, patented Domo Aqua Recytec, all the sprinkler system and rain water that is lost through the base is caught. This will significantly reduce the water bill. Aqua Recytec very rapidly drains the water via an ingenious system of small pipes. The recovered water can be stored in tanks and is ready to be reused. Moreover, frost no longer has any influence because the base is always dry. This means that a base that is 50 to 60 cm deep is no longer necessary and can be replaced by 15 to 20 cm formwork, on condition that soil resistance is sufficient. > Read more

FIRST DIVISION STVV IN BELGIAN FOOTBALL PLAYS ON DOMO ARTIFICIAL GRASS IN THEIR HOME STADIUM

text STVV Kunstgrasvelddomo sports grass 2011First-division STVV is coming up with a first in Belgian football: the club has installed an artificial grass pitch in its main stadium. The pitch is now ready for competition with FIFA 2 STAR certification. So, as from today STVV will be playing their home matches on Domo VarioSlide S PRO artificial grass.

“Laying an artificial grass surface offers numerous advantages. First of all a FIFA 2STAR approved artificial grass surface has the same technical playing properties as an ideal natural grass pitch”, says STVV chairman Benoit Morenne. “You can also play the whole year through on an artificial grass surface. Football days can be organised on artificial grass, with in the afternoons women or young people playing and the first-division team in the evening. That isn’t possible on a natural grass pitch: it would just be played to ruin. Finally, an artificial grass pitch can be played on in all weather conditions. There are no water logging problems with artificial grass. The water is drained away perfectly so the pitch can always be played on.”

A FIFA 2STAR pitch must meet the strict technical standards imposed by FIFA. The test values are set based on values measured on an ideal natural grass pitch. The new STVV artificial grass surface is tested by the European Research Centre for Artificial Turf (ERCAT).

The Domo VarioSlide S PRO artificial pitch is a natural-looking grass mat for which the new Heliflex technology is used. After years of research, Domo Sports Grass has succeeded in applying a controllable spiral form to the monofilament yarns of the grass mat. This gives the pitch excellent resilience. In the erect state the spiral yarns are nicely at rest. As soon as lateral or downward pressure is exerted, the yarn is subjected to tension and wants to spring back upright as soon as possible. Thanks to the Heliflex technology, a sports pitch is achieved on which the grass yarns are always perfectly erect. This means that the ball always rolls or lies on the tips of the artificial grass blades, so the most important playing properties in football, the roll of the ball and getting one’s foot under the ball, are guaranteed. The players have the feeling they are playing on ideal natural grass more than ever.

KORFBALL DOMO ARTIFICIAL GRASS FIT FOR INTERNATIONAL MEETS

WEB crop korfbal de knipe IMG_7763The “De Knipe” Korfball club from the Netherlands have for a little while already been playing their matches on a Domo® Champion Ascari artificial grass mat installed by Grontmij. Nothing particularly new in the Korfball world these days perhaps, but quite a step forward for this refurbished sports park. De Knipe’s non-filled artificial grass pitch is the cutting edge in multifunctional artificial grass mats.

It took the “Knypsters” six years to install this completely new accommodation. Now, in addition to korfball players benefitting from it, the Read Swart footballers, volleyball players, tennis players and survival skills trainers do too, as the new pitch is multi-functional. It is primarily suited to korfball and football. The new artificial grass mat with its 32-mm grass fibres is filled in with 10 mm of sand, leaving a free pile height of 22 mm. The pitch has no rubber infill like traditional football pitches, so displaced rubber, rubber smells and pitch warming are all things of the past. It is still only in the pilot stage for Korfball, but the “De Knipe” club says that the biggest advantage over any “normal” artificial grass pitch is that it gives fewer “burns” when players slide.
